Moses and Success to be present for Eagles clash with Algeria

– The duo of Victor Moses and Isaac Success are expected to be part of the Nigerian team that will face Algeria

– Both players cited respective injuries and failed to turn up for the cracker against Zambia

– Coach Gernot Rohr has hinted that both players will be invited, as three points is all that matters

The coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has vowed to unleash Victor Moses and Isaac Success against the Desert Foxes of Algeria when they meet in Uyo in a 2018 FIFA World qualifier.

The duo failed to show up for the trip to Ndola where Nigeria defeated Zambia on October 9, as they claimed to be injured; and Nigerians condemned the act saying the players are unpatriotic and should not be invited to the team anymore.

However, coach Rohr has stated that only match-fit Eagles will be made to face Algeria as the three points is a top priority.

Moses and Success have been in top form for their respective clubs with the duo getting a goal each in the English Premier League match-day 8.

According to a source close to Vanguard, the two players will be used as the ‘joker’ against the North Africans.

“If they think after watching that match against Zambia alone is enough study of the Nigerian team then they should be ready for surprises.

“The coach intends to rejig some of the players that did not feature against Zambia and some who were excused because of injuries,” the source told Vanguard.

Nigeria currently top CAF Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers with three points – and will boost their chances with a win against the third best team in Africa on November 12.

“Yes, we should expect to see some new players join us for the game against Algeria,” Rohr said.

“The three injured players Leon Balogun, Moses and Success and the one that had a family issue and had to be excused will all be back.

“We shall also look at other players who play regularly in their clubs who may join the team.”

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles of Nigeria moved up four places in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

Gernot Rohr’s side are now the 60th best team in the world having occupied the 64th position in the previous rankings.
