In a statement by Mr. Laolu Akande who is the spokesperson of the vice president, he quoted Onoge as wondering what happened to the monies meant for the region’
“What happened to these monies (budgeted for the Niger Delta in 16 years)?”
The group condemned the continued vandalism of oil and gas pipelines by militants and expressed support for the federal government.
Onoge also said the group was ready to work to sustain peace in the region.
He also declared support for the anti-corruption crusade championed by the Buhari administration.
In his reaction, the vice president noted that the destruction of oil and gas pipelines was detrimental to the region.
He said: “So much damage is being done, governments will come and go, but these damages will ultimately destroy people’s livelihoods, aspirations and their future.
“Nobody else anywhere in the world will destroy the facilities meant to help them, there is no benefit whatsoever from the destruction.”
