In a notion to justify his mode of dressing to public functions and events, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has disclosed that he prefers to identify with the ‘common people’.

In a post on his facebook page, the minister noted that the red-beret is his signature while the ‘Khaki’ he is used to wearing is to appreciate the people.

So many people have asked this same question ” what is behind your mode of outfits and what is the motivating principle?”

The ‘Red Beret’ is my signature for a struggle of the common people. The ‘Khaki’ is just nothing but a very modest way of appreciating the magnitude of problems the ‘common people’ face in this country.

I don’t fancy putting on attires outside that because it does not at all, portray our understanding of the situation in which we operate. There are people in this country who find it difficult to eat one meal a day and yet, we intimidate and harass them with gorgeously expensive dresses.

Some of our apparels can even feed a whole community! I find it difficult to reconcile such an irony. (Sighs) So, I have decided to just live happily and modestly because that is how I feel happy each time I am in my simple wears.

As for the ‘Red Beret’, it is the signature of those who struggle against injustice, violence and oppression of the poor. In fact, the red colour, historically represents the blood of the poor people who have been struggling for a better society.

Each time we look at the red beret, we remember that some people have sacrificed their lives in struggling to live better in a world which was created by God and which others have decided to hijack and live at their own advantage against the voiceless majority.

So…the summary of who I am is that I am a Comrade walking the talk.

Pastor sells 'anointed cucumbers' to his congregation

Pastor makes money out of members of his congregation, by selling what he termed ‘anointed cucumbers’ to them.
Due to the growing quest for miracles, signs and wonders, in churches mostly across Africa, some pastors have taken it upon themselves to do things that may be called ‘scandalous’, just to distinguish themselves from the norm.

We recently saw a pastor who sprays insecticides on members of his church, saying that was the medium God wanted to show his anointing through.

Now we have seen a pastor selling ‘anointed cucumbers’ to his congregation.

According to reports, Prophet Walter Magaya of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance ministries (PHDM) in Zimbabwe, had his ushers circulate cucumbers to the congregation, for a certain amount of money, after ‘anointing’ them.

Prophet Magaya had been accused and charged with allegations of rape, in August 2016, and he has also made the headlines for allegedly banning members of his church who are PHD holders, from attending church services.

APC chieftain caught on tape while allegedly buying PVCs

Out of 921 registered voters at Ward 8 PU017 Owo LGA, 83 electorates voted successfully. At the moment, the people are waiting for the INEC officials to resume the counting.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress has been caught on tape reportedly offering cash for votes in the ongoing election.

A video obtained by Ondo TV showed the APC chieftain, Tunji Light Ariyo, attempting to share money to buy votes at St Thomas Akure.

Also, The Deputy Governor of Ondo, Mr. Lasisi Oluboyo has accused the All Progressives Congress of wooing the voters with money in the ongoing state governorship election.

Meanwhile, APC candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu said report reaching him is that PDP is rigging in the creek areas and that the military had refused to yield to the complaints.

In another footage, OndoTv claimed voters chased away APC chairman, ward 2, Akure while trying to buy votes at Arakale.

Gunmen kill four in fresh attack on Kaduna

Not fewer than four people have been killed by unknown gunmen in Kaduna state, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The attack occurred on Friday, November 25 in Mile One Village in Tafan District, Kaduna state and stretched a shocking eight hours, from 2pm to 10pm.

Some gunmen have killed four people and burned down homes in Kaduna
NAN quoted a resident as saying on Saturday, November 26 in Kafanchan that the hoodlums also burnt down several houses including that of the village head.

The Interim Chairman of Jema’a local Government Area, Dr. Bege Katuka, confirmed the incident via telephone.

He said: “I just left the affected village barely 30 minutes ago, I was there to assess the extent of damage.”

Reports say the residents of the neighbouring villages of Gidan Waya, Ungwuan Ninzo and Ungwuan Kagoro have now fled for fear of possible attacks.

The villages, as well as Kaduna State College of Education, has been turned to ghost towns.

Pasakori Village which shares boundaries with Mile One Village came under similar attack on Thursday, November 24.

Meanwhile, Bagudu Hirse, the former aviation minister, who was abducted by gunmen in Kaduna state on Sunday, Nov. 20, has regained his freedom.

This was confirmed by his brother, John Hirse, in an interview with NAN

BREAKING: Ondo election: Violence rocks Owo as hoodlums snatch ballot box

Reports reaching ALEXLUCKYNEWS from Owo Local Government area of Ondo State show that the governorship election in the state has been marred with violence.

Some hoodlums have shattered the ballot box and hijacked the ballot papers.

ALEXLUCKYNEWS gathered that all efforts by security personnel drafted to the polling booth to stop the situation hit the rocks.

This is coming barely 24 hours after two persons lost their lives during an outbreak of violence.

Owo is the hometown of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

Four arrested in Igbokoda over ballot snatching

Four young men have been arrested while reportedly attempting to snatch ballot boxes at Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje local government.

The men, who were arrested and handcuffed, have been taken away in a police patrol vehicle to the Divisional Police Office in Igbokoda.

The suspects were between the ages of 25 and 30.

Ondo election: Aketi, Jegede vote in style as Oke raises alarm (LIVE UPDATES)

Voters in Ondo state will march to the polls today, November 26, to elect a new governor that would take over from Olusegun Mimiko, whose tenure expires in February 2017.
Despite the call for postponement by some of the parties, 28 political parties are set to feature governorship candidates in the election which many expect to be a four-horse race.

Eyitayo Jegede of the state’s ruling PDP, Rotimi Akeredolu of Nigeria’s ruling APC, Olusola Oke of the AD and Olu Agunloye of the SDP are the main challengers.
According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, all the sensitive and non-sensitive materials are on ground for the election.

Agbaje said: “Ad-hoc staff have been trained, stakeholders have been sensitized and security has been mobilized.”
Exactly 1,280,580 voters are expected to decide who the next governor of Ondo state will be.

8.25am’ At 28/18/08/10 Owo LGA, electorates seating under canopy awaiting INEC official. Meanwhile, Owo is reportedly boiling as
properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in local government by armed thugs at the resident of Chief Jamiu Ekungba, an APC governorship aspirant who lost out in the September 3 primaries in Ondo state.

Ekiti state governor’s special assistant on new media Lere Olayinka reported late on Friday, November 25 that there was carnage in Owo, which is the hometown of Rotimi Akeredolu, the APC governorship candidate in the Ondo election.

“Owo, Akeredolu’s hometown is said to be boiling now. Houses belonging to both PDP and APC supporters are being burnt..,” Olayinka said.

Recall that one person has died ahead of today’s polls. A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) was killed by unknown gunmen in Owo, Ondo state.

The chieftain, Afolabi Olaposi was shot dead on his way home after attending a meeting of the party in preparation for the governorship election on Thursday night, November 24, according to a statement released the APC.
