Suspected kidnappers who disguised as pastors killed in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the death of three suspected kidnappers who disguised in pastor’s outfit.

The suspects died following a gun duel between them and a police patrol team at Agbogidi Motor Park, close to the Onitsha head bridge, along the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha expressway on Friday.

It was learnt that the police operatives had stormed the park based on intelligence report and engaged the suspects in a 10-minute gun duel.

Zanna said, “The suspects drove into a bar in the park in a Toyota Corolla car allegedly waiting for their target, said to be a United Kingdom-based native of Asaba coming home for Christmas.

“On sighting the police patrol team, the suspects opened fire with spontaneous response from the police officers.

“Some brave persons at the motor park assisted the police during the operation,” the CP stated, calling on the general public to always provide the police with credible information that could lead to the tracking down of hoodlums.

“The police recovered the vehicle, one AK 47 rifle, one pump action gun, one locally made pistol with 19 rounds of 7.6mm, eight live cartridges, one expended cartridge and church aprons from the suspects.”

Biafra can be attained, Igbos will not beg Buhari - Ohaneze

Biafra can be attained, Igbos will not beg Buhari - Ohaneze

– Chief (Mrs) Calista Nkiru Adimachukwu (Mmilioma), says Igbos are a priceless asset to Nigeria as a whole

– Mrs Adimachukwu says Igbos cannot beg for a place in Nigeria

– Similarly, Major Hamza Al- Mustapha, has advised the Igbo race to be united in order to achieve Biafra

– The ex-CSO to General Sani Abacha, says the actualizationof Biafra is possible

National Women Leader, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief (Mrs) Calista Nkiru Adimachukwu (Mmilioma) has said that the Igbo are the highest contributors to Nigerian independence compared to other regions.
Calista Nkiru says the Igbos must be given that which is due them.

Adimachukwu however noted that it is sad that since independence in 1960, other regions have countered Igbo objectives.

Acording to Vanguard, the women leader said: “The Igbo have not been given the opportunity to taste solid leadership in Nigeria. Even after Nigeria got independence, Dr, Nnamdi Azikiwe, was made a ceremonial President whereas his NCNC and Awolowo’s AG were capable of forming a solid government and producing the Prime Minister.”

“Azikiwe sacrificed that for the peaceful existence and unity of Nigeria. Although Azikiwe had support from Awolowo, he reasoned that if the West and East teamed up against the North to form government, the nation may lose its equilibrium as the North might feel short-changed.

Therefore, Azikiwe sacrificed that chance for the unity of Nigeria. In fact, the Igbo do not even want to talk about the circumstances surrounding the death of Major Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi. Even in the Fourth Republic, Dr Alex Ekwueme contributed immensely to the formation of the PDP, thinking that probably the Igbo might get the chance to control the central government.”

She added that: “The Igbo hoped that Ekwueme would be made the presidential candidate of the PDP, but there was gang-up by the military against the Igbo, and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo became the presidential candidate of the PDP.

Obasanjo’s candidacy was the continuation of the defeat of the Igbo because the northern oligarchy never wanted an Igbo man to be the President of Nigeria. Even before that episode, the Igbo voted for Chief M.K.O Abiola, but when it came to the time when an Igbo person needs votes from the West and the North both in primaries and main elections, the Igbo are usually disappointed.

The Igbo have sacrificed a lot for the political development of Nigeria even to the extent of supporting a northerner in the Second Republic and also giving Sir. Tafawa Belewa support to be Prime Minister in the First Republic.

“The Igbo have been disappointed time, without number whenever they needed support from other regions.

This is one of the reasons the Igbo want the Federal Government to implement the report of the 2014 National Conference in order to end the issue of junior and senior partners in the Nigerian project and also to neutralise any gang-up against the Igbo now and in the future.

There is no doubt that the Igbo are disappointed because President Goodluck Jonathan lost the election.

This is because the Igbo believed that since he was the one that instituted the National Confab and received the report, he would have been in a better position to implement it.

Again, he showed the Igbo that he has their interest at heart. Because of him, the Igbo now have international airport and other developmental projects in the region. I believe he could have done more if he won re-election in 2015.

There are also other projects in the South-East which he started that are still unsung. The Igbos have no regrets voting for Jonathan and will do the same again if the need arises.

Notably, in the 2011 presidential election, similar thing happen where the North-East and North-West voted massively for Gen. Buhari, and he lost in that election. However, those who voted for him then had no regret.

They repeated the same feat in 2015 and he won. The President did a lot to ensure that the 2015 elections went well and without violence. He should be commended for his efforts in the 2015 elections.

All said and done, the Igbo will continue to hope that their contributions to national development will be remembered by all.”

Meanwhile, former Chief Security Officer (CSO), to ex-Military Head of State, late Gen Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al- Mustapha, has advised the Igbo race to be united in order to achieve their purpose.

Major-Hamza-Al-Mustapha says Igbos must come together to achieve their goal.

Daily Post reports that Mustapha made the appeal yesterday, November 26, at this year’s Odumegwu Ojukwu’s memorial service in Owerri, Imo State.

Noting that Ojukwu was a committed military leader, the former CSO said the Igbo race has all it takes to lead the world.

According to Mustapha, “In the absence of unity of purpose, Ndigbo will end up wasting their time and achieving practically nothing.

“We equally feel the pains of Ndigbo. There are palpable traces of poverty in every street in this land”

Jose Mourinho sent off for a second time in a month

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was sent off during his side’s 1 – 1 draw at home to West Ham United on Sunday, November 27.

The moment referee orders Jose Mourinho out of the technical area

The former Chelsea coach kicked a water bottle to protest referee Jon Moss’ decision for showing Paul Pogba a yellow card for diving.

Although, replays showed West Ham’s Mark Noble did not make contact with the France midfielder.

Recall that the ‘Special One’ was also sent to the stands by Mark Clattenburg in United’s 0 – 0 draw at home to Burnley in October, 2016.

The whole drama came barely fifteen minutes into the encounter after two quick goals were scored.

The visitors took the surprised lead barely two minutes into the encounter when Diafra Sakho nodded into the net from Dimitri Payet’s free-kick.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was partly at fault for the goal but made amends in the 21st minute when he scored from Pogba’s ‘delicious’ delivery in a similar fashion.

West Ham need to thank their goalkeeper Darren Randolph who was spectacular throughout the entire 90 minutes.

Although United would have won the game, but for Jesse Lingard’s goal which was correctly ruled out for offside.

I do not perform fake miracles, no trader died in my church – Abuja pastor, Esezebor

I do not perform fake miracles, no trader died in my church – Abuja pastor, Esezebor

Bishop Emmanuel Esezobor, founder of Fire House Church International, located beside Niger-Delta Gardens and Hotels Check Point, Nyanya, Abuja, has reacted to news making the rounds that a trader died in his church while he was performing fake miracles.

In the incident, which purportedly happened in May, the pastor allegedly offered the Igbo trader N500, 000 to pretend to be dead so he could perform a miracle of waking him up. But luck ran out of him when the man died in the coffin before they reached his crusade ground.

The wife of the deceased trader was said to have reported the matter to the police, which led to the pastor’s arrest but he was reportedly released through the help of his influential friends in Abuja and had gone back to the business performing strange miracles in his church.

But the pastor has refuted the allegation, saying it was the devil using people to spread lies against him because the ministry was waxing stronger than expected.

In a statement made available to newsmen at the weekend, Prophet Esezobor said, “It is a story that would soon pass away. We have not had a murder case in the Fire House Alter and all the branches we haven’t had a murder case for five years. We don’t know where they are getting their stories from. These are cheap talkers who are looking for popularity. God be praised.

“We preach Jesus, we don’t preach self. It has been Jesus all the way and he said if his name is lifted up, he will claim souls. It has always been about souls, souls, and souls.

“All our sons, daughters, friends relations believe in our vision and have been praying with us and sending us best wishes and we are at home enjoying Christ and waiting for our evening service today.

“We have not held any crusade at the only Abuja stadium as the said rumour claimed we are only planning to hold one next year February, 15th 2017, when we will storm the National Stadium for healing service and I want everyone to be there to see the power and glory of God at work.

“When I read the fake and cooked story I started speaking in tongues because the devil is out to propagate God and celebrates Jesus. We also heard how they said a trader whom they claimed I paid to act for me and in the process he died.

“Who then was the trader? Who are his relations? Which police station they took to? Which cell I was detained? All these are questions begging for an answer.

“Challenges have made me a champion and I see it as a stepping stones to greater things. Healing is real and I preach it, the Bible says “I shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.

“I have seen God do mighty things in righteousness and this is a big motivation coming at the end of the year making us more sensitive and prayerful. We know that the devil is after the body of Christ and I pray for all the pastors to go back to their prayer alters as we are over comers,”he stated.

Nigerian Army needs eye glasses to see killing of Biafra agitators

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, worldwide on Sunday condemned the continued denial of the killing of its members by the Nigerian government, military and other security agencies.

The Nigerian Army had debunked claims by Amnesty International that its men killed over 150 pro-Biafran protesters, stating that the allegation is an “outright attempt to tarnish the reputation of the security forces in general and the Nigerian Army in particular, for whatever inexplicable parochial reasons.”

But IPOB stated that the denial means that the entire defence staff of Nigerian Army “need eye glasses to see the barbaric crimes committed by the Nigeria soldiers against the members of IPOB through out the period of peaceful demonstrations in Biafraland”.

The group, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, called on world leaders to visit YouTube and watch the crimes allegedly committed by the Nigeria government and her security agencies against unarmed IPOB members during rallies and demonstrations in Aba, Onitsha, Owerri, Igweocha (PH), Calaba, Uyo, Asaba, Enugu, Bayelsa and other numerous cities to mention a few.

The statement reads, “The Nigeria defence headquarters should have asked for the video coverage from the media companies both international and local media outfits in the world after watching the videos from all corners of Biafra if they still doubting the killings then you understand that they are not a well organised institutions and any body still doubting or asking questions about this crime committed by Nigerian army against defenceless peaceful civilians, then that person needs to be under medical care for madness.

“The world now have the video evidence of the cold blooded brutal massacre of defenceless Biafra civilians.

“We want similar in controvertible proof to substantiate the cut and paste purpoted refuttal by the Nigeria army spokesman.

“We IPOB suggest the defence head quarters of the Nigerian army and presidency to watch the video again before coming out to make a mockery of themselves and the entire Nigeria

The new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye, on Sunday assured Nigerians that Donald Trump’s presidency would not disrupt the U. S. and Nigeria’s long-existing relations.
Enikanolaiye said that there was no need for Nigerians to be agitated over Trump’s presidency.

The permanent secretary expressed optimism that the long existing relations between Nigeria and the U. S. would be strengthened in the years ahead.

He said, “We do not think that Donald Trump’s presidency would lead to a disruption in the relations between Nigeria and the United States.

“The United States and Nigeria have had excellent relations since the attainment of Nigeria’s Independence.

Ladies excited as pastor shares ‘anointed’ cucumbers during

The founder of Prophetic Healing Deliverance Ministries in Zimbabwe, Prophet Walter Magaya, stirred up controversies on the social media on Sunday as pictures of him distributing and selling ‘anointed’ cucumbers during his church service went viral.

The report is causing a stir as cucumber has recently been “literally discovered to have many uses,” apart from being an edible fruit.

The pastor created room for criticisms as the report had it that his church members, especially the ladies, heavily patronized him.

While some called him fake for selling cucumbers in the house of God, others said “only him knows why he chose cucumber of all fruits” to distribute.

How we robbed Basketmouth of $200, phones in Lagos – Suspects

The suspects, who robbed veteran Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, at gun point at his residence in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, on September 7 have been arrested.

The comedian was in company of his family when unknown gunmen broke into his home and carted away valuables.

They were paraded before newsmen at the state Police Command headquarters, Ikeja on Saturday.

Twenty-four-year old Chibuzor Ugwu, the suspected leader of the three-man gang confessed, saying “Anytime I come to Lagos, I take my gang to vandalise vehicles and steal auto parts. We normally targeted Toyota and Honda vehicles.

“But the day we robbed Basketmouth’s house, we had operated on some vehicles in the area that day. We then peeped into a compound and saw a very nice car.

When we gained access into the compound, we realised we could make more money by robbing the occupants of the house.

“We then used a bolt cutter to enter through the kitchen. It was when we entered the house that we realised that it was Basketmouth’s house. We saw the pictures of him and his family on the wall,” Ugwu said, adding that he had done nothing else than internet fraud and robbery since he left secondary school.

Speaking further, the Enugu State indigene living in Anambra State said he pointed a gun he was holding at the comedian and told him to cooperate.

According to him, they were shocked the comedian told them he had no cash at home.

Ugwu said, “We thought we were going to find millions of naira at the house. He was begging us not to hurt his family. He said he did not keep cash at home. But we told him to cooperate so that we would just operate peacefully and leave.

“We searched the whole apartment and found nothing. We only got a $200 note in his wallet along with the mobile phones in the house which he handed to us.

“Eventually we left with the little we could find, we were not ready to hurt him because it was clear he was telling the truth when we searched everywhere and found no money.

“We sold the phones to a friend, Osama at the Computer Village in Ikeja and the gun I took to the operation was purchased for N80,000 in Benue State.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspects, said they would be charged to court soon.

‘I am not Jesus’- Oyinbo man explains his mistaken identity

‘I am not Jesus’- Oyinbo man explains his mistaken identity

Following an incident in Kenya where he encountered people who simply thought he was Jesus the son of God , the ‘mystery’ man has explained himself.

Daniel Christos was mistaken to be ‘Jesus’ in Kenya
When some Kenyans spotted a man who looked like the biblical Jesus Christ based on the movies they must have seen (where Jesus is presumed to be an Oyinbo man), they simply took the opportunity to take pictures and even invite him into their homes.

As it turns out, the man who had this experience, is non other than an Australian man identified as Daniel Christos.

Christos who said he is not a beggar, but actually a traveler from Perth, Australia, took to his Facebook page to react when a user identified as Mook Carter III said they would set up a committee to crucify him together with two thieves. He said he was uncomfortable with the threat, and felt the need to respond saying:

“I arrived in Kenya less than 2 weeks ago from Ethiopia and have been welcomed with so much enthusiasm like I’ve never experienced before in my life. In fact, it’s been so extreme that it’s been a little overwhelming.

Every single corner I walk on in Nairobi I have noticed someone either taking a photo or video while hundreds of times a day I hear people calling out “Jesus!”.

Kenyan people, in general, have been very friendly and loving. Until I find this photo of me circulating online. I feel a little concerned by this person’s comments. I don’t know who wrote it and I don’t know if it was just a joke or if they were serous, but it has made me a little uncomfortable to walk in the streets of Nairobi. I shouldn’t have to respond to such close minded nonsense but a quick message to whoever posted the photo and comment… I AM NOT JESUS! I HAVE NEVER PRETENDED TO BE. I am a traveler who has come to your country as a visitor, i would hope that one day if Jesus does return you treat him with a little more respect than you have treated me. To everyone else, you are a beautiful people, I love you!”

LOL! What do you think?

– Last season when Mourinho was at Chelsea, he had a superb relationship with Willian

Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho is now set to raid his former club Chelsea as the Portuguese gaffer was reported to be interested in luring forward Willian to Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old Brazilian star has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of new manager Antonio Conte who has given the player limited playing time.

Before Jose Mourinho was axed at Chelsea, the Portuguese man was an admirer of the Brazilian star as he netted seven times last season for the Blues.

Willian who was Chelsea’s player of the year for last season has not started in the premier League since the Blues’ 2-0 victory at Hull City on October 1, 2016.

It was also said that the death of his mother also restricted his chances to play for Chelsea who are currently topping the premier League table with 31 points after 13 games.

Governor Rochas Okorocha also noted that the unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.

He said: “I see myself as an unusual Nigerian. While Igbo parents gave birth to me, I was born in the North, went to school there and even married in the North there. I was empowered by the West. How I stopped Atiku from becoming President – Anenih

How I stopped Atiku from becoming President – Anenih

Former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustee, Tony Anenih, has revealed that he stopped former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, from being President.

Anenih, who has announced he is stepping out of politics, said this in his book titled ‘My Life and Nigerian Politics’, which was presented in Abuja on Saturday.

He explained that Atiku wanted to become the President, when former President Olusegun Obasanjo was contesting for a second term.

“As a result of my preparations for Chief Obasanjo’s second tenure, I stepped on the toes of many of those who did not want him to seek a second term. These are the people I can now refer to as members of the ‘G3’. These were General Ibrahim Babangida, (ex-) Vice- President Atiku Abubakar and the (ex-) National Security Adviser, General Aliu Gwarzo,” Anenih said.

“There was no other way I could have offended the vice-president other than that I prevented him from being PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2003 presidential election. He erroneously believed that he was the only politician at the Villa and that he was better qualified than the President. I was well ahead of him in all his plans to prevent Chief Obasanjo from running (for re-election).”

Anenih also claimed he recommended Atiku as Vice-President, after he had just won the Adamawa State governorship election.

He added: “I asked Obasanjo whether he would want a vice-president that would give him absolute confidence and allow him to sleep with his two eyes closed or whether he would want a vice-president he did not trust.

“He answered that he would like to sleep with his two eyes closed. It was at this point that I asked him: ‘What about Atiku?’ Chief Obasanjo’s answer was that Atiku had just won his governorship election and the law might not allow him to come on board as his running mate.

“We both decided to get a lawyer to advise us and Barrister Alimi Rasaq of Kwara State was sent for. He advised us that there was nothing in the constitution that prevented Atiku from being his running mate; especially as Atiku had not been sworn in.”

See how to end Niger Delta millitant

he wave of attacks on oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta will stop only if the FederalGovernment commits itself to a genuine dialogue. The chairman of the default Technical Committee on the Niger Delta, Ledum Mitee, told The Guardian in Port Harcourt, that irrespective of the recent stakeholder meeting between the presidency and Niger Delta leaders, the attitude of the Federal Government had not shown it was committed to dialogue.According to Mitee, while government strategy to end the crisis in the Niger Delta is not clear, it is obvious that Niger Delta leaders still need to do some work to get a firm commitment from the government that dialogue is the preferred option. He said everybody in the countrywould want a resolution of the problem through dialogue and not military confrontation.“For me, there is no alternative to dialogue. I don’t see any alternative to dialogue. The point I keep on making is that we will not be tired of dialogue. But it is not just dialogue. What we have asked for this time is not just dialogue but a conversation thatis backed with some credible action on the ground. If you agreed on something, then you go and do it and that will instil confidence in the process and inthe people at the grassroots,” he said.Mitee, who is a former president of the Movement for the Survivalof the Ogoni People (MOSOP) explained that the government should ensure that the Niger Delta technical committee reportwas updated to accommodate existing circumstances so as to provide a clear basis for sustainable peace in the Niger Delta. To this end, he argued that if government was sincere it couldimplement some of the key demands of the Niger Delta leaders within the next three to six months to boost confidence that government was indeed committed to the resolution of the Niger Delta conflict. On the current amnesty programme, Mitee called for its review to include an exit strategythat could transit recipients frombeing mere receivers of stipendsto persons who duly employed.According to him, the government of the late PresidentUmaru Yar’Adua and that of President Goodluck Jonathan, ina bid to normalise crude oil production, failed to fully implement the recommendations of the technical committee on how the amnesty programme should be implemented.Mitee said government should to tackle the Ogoni clean-up andenvironmental remediation of the Niger Delta areas with seriousness to boost the confidence of the people of the region. He also suggested that the issue of the maritime university at Okerenkoko and maritime academy at Oron should be addressed as well.Mitee lamented that governmenthad allowed the Niger Delta crisis to fester for too long. He observed that the emergence of another militant group under theaegis of Niger Delta Avengers years after the Movement for theEmancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) ceased attacks on oil installations ought to give everyone concern so much so that the Niger Delta question should be urgently addressed.

The prophet can be seen dancing and spraying more and more money, while the musicians sang his praises (why won’t they when he sprayed some money on them too).

Prophet Ebelenna whose church is popularly known as ‘Excess Power’ in Onitsha and its environs, shared the video of the wedding on his Facebook page.

Ezekwesili blasts Buhari, Jonathan for leading Nigeria into recession

Ezekwesili blasts Buhari, Jonathan for leading Nigeria into recession

A former Minister of Solid Minerals, Mrs. Obi Ezekwesili, has accused the administrations of former President Goodluck Jonathan and that of the incumbent, Muhammad Buhari, of leading Nigeria’s economy into recession.

According to her, the duo failed to adopt the right policies to deal with the crash in crude oil prices, which began in mid-2014, hence the ongoing economic crisis.

Ezekwesili noted that while Jonathan’s administration failed to do something about the impending recession before leaving office, the current administration equally failed to launch a comprehensive fiscal stabilisation programme on assumption of office in May 2015.

She spoke as the guest speaker at the inaugural Business Lecture of the Lagos Country Club in Lagos on Thursday night.

She said, “The parlous state of the Nigerian economy by the 29th of May, 2015 should have instructed an incisive and urgent macroeconomic stabilisation programme to realign the price levels in the economy. By May 2015, we knew we were already in trouble. As a matter of fact, we were already in trouble in 2014. That was the first time that growth collapsed to 3.8 per cent. The incoming administration should not have been told that we were weak and vulnerable.

“Had the government made quick and necessary adjustment that corresponded close enough to the level of impact of the 40 per cent decline in oil revenue, our story could have been different today. We would never have lost growth.”

Ezekwesili, a former Vice-President of the World Bank, further stated, “There is a new level that our post-2014 oil shock economy needed to find for stability. We needed a policy response that could have enabled that adjustment to happen immediately.

That response could have helped the economy to absorb the shock. It could have reassured the investors. It could have reassured the consumers. It could have helped us to reasonably retain investor confidence in the economy, but that did not happen.”

She stated, “The attendant fiscal pressure and the delayed right policy responses were severe enough that by 2015, economic growth had sharply declined from 3.8 to 2.7 per cent. And then began the sharper loss of growth into negative growth rate by 2016. It was a major mistake that the economy did not get timely and right type of policies that could have helped us avoid the calamitous collapse into negative growth in the last three quarters of 2016.

“The economic preferences did in fact worsened matters and set off a wave of uncertainties that dented investors’ confidence in the economy. So, it is accurate to conclude that both the preceding and successor governments conspired by their actions and inactions to throw the Nigerian economy into the deep throes of economic recession of which it must be rescued in order to avoid social implosion.”

The former minister, therefore, urged Nigerians to place a demand on the government to retrace its step and implement the right policies.

She said, “The record of the government today for timely and right actions on the economy is, however, so far not encouraging at all. For almost one year, the government delayed prime action on the fuel subsidy regime despite its aggravating import on fiscal imbalance.

“Over the same period, it delayed the right action on the exchange rate policy despite the deleterious effects that it was having on foreign reserves, the value of the naira, as well as on inflation. Before the government came on board, inflation level was nine per cent; today, inflation has doubled to more than 18 per cent. The greatest enemy of the poor is inflation. The greatest enemy of business is inflation. All you need in order to destroy the poor is total unstable price levels in an economy”

On how to restore the economy to the path of growth, Ezekwesili added, “The citizens must place a demand on the government to implement right economic policies.

“As long as we continue on the path of wrong economic prescriptions for the economy, the situation will to worsen. The more these indicators deteriorate, the harder it will be for growth to resume. The macroeconomic stability that poor choice of economic policies helped to unravel within one year took many years of work

“It is therefore critical for citizens to convict the federal government to urgently retrace its steps back to what it failed to do on May 29, 2015.

We swore to allow the market economy to adjust itself without command and control. The government failed to launch a deep fiscal consolidation programme. Recession is nothing new in the countries.”

Recently, the President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Dr. Frank Jacobs, has said with the current economic situation, the country may not be out of recession in 2017 .

Those guilty of corruption should face death penalty – Senator Joseph Dada

Those guilty of corruption should face death penalty – Senator Joseph Dada

Senator Gbolahan Joseph Dada (APC-Ogun West) has advocated capital punishment for corrupt officials in the country.

Mr. Dada, who made the suggestion during interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday, said “corruption is the bane of this country and the only way out is heavy penalty, even death sentence, for those found guilty.

“The only way you can stop corruption is through death sentence”.

Mr. Dada noted that there were so many laws that should be promulgated at this stage of Nigeria’s development, pointing out that England did so too at a stage in her life.

He accused civil servants of being the major culprits, pointing out that they had access to public funds which made it easy for them to steal from the national treasury.

“This is why some of them, after stealing so much money from government, set up personal businesses but collapse soon after because they only know how to steal, not to create wealth.

“Wealth creation is a process that must be sustained but you go bankrupt the day you are taken away from the source where you steal,” he said.

The lawmaker said about 1.2 million houses built with stolen money in Lagos and Abuja were in the market for sale with nobody to buy them.

“That is why you find houses everywhere unoccupied because they steal this money and they ask the contractor to go and build houses for them. Go to Lekki, you will find them there and here in Abuja.

“If you borrowed money from the bank will you be able to lock up the houses unoccupied,” he asked.

Mr. Dada implored the Federal Government to impose property tax on all unoccupied houses in the country, promising that he would soon sponsor a bill to identify who owns each building in the country using modern platforms on the internet.

These include Bank Verification Numbers, E-passports, GSM numbers, company registration numbers, national identity card numbers, driver’s license and DNA, to know who owns which building in Nigeria.
Mr. Dada said corruption has devastated the country’s economy so much that the only way to stop it is the death penalty.

He said although the developed nations would frown against it, people should read the history of England.

“Who killed King James?” he asked. “At that time, that was what could solve the problem for them, we are not civilized here, we think we are, because we are riding exotic cars, in fact we are in the 14th in Nigeria.”

He said Nigeria had disappointed the world not just Africa “because in every group of Africans you see, five are Nigerians.

“So, the whole world expected us to be trail blazers that would lead Africa out of poverty.

“Today, many in Russian, Malaysian, Thailand, Indian and Great Britain prisons are Nigerians. Why? It is because of indiscipline in the society,’’ he said.

He said Nigeria was gradually getting to the stage the Republic of Liberia was when the war broke out. “The major danger here is the large population of youths who are unemployed.

“When you have a large population of youths who are under-educated, under-housed, under-developed and you have a handful minority in the ruling elite class monopolizing the government apparatus, you are courting trouble.

“Nigeria as an oil producing nation is an enabler for job creation.

“My worry is that if nothing is done, the crisis would start from starvation, food shortage. Texas in the United States is bigger than Nigeria and the population of Texas is about 20 million and Nigeria, in about ten years time, will be 200 Million.

“The land is not expanding, yet population is increasing. We are not like India and China sub-continents. India is bigger than Nigeria. So, they can accommodate large population but that is not the issue.

“The issue is that they have a productive economy. So, we can’t compare them with Nigeria at all.

“Let Nigeria compare herself with neighboring West African countries. We had an opportunity to turn Nigeria into a productive economy for 40 years but we wasted the opportunity.

“All the money made from oil was wasted. We have no petro-chemical industry, now we import virtually everything.

“The few industries that were left by the colonial European administration have all collapsed,’’ the lawmaker said.

Mr. Dada said that was a great mistake and that Europeans should have been left to run their industries while Nigerians took over governance.

Attack on Delta community: I will avenge the death of my mother – Henry College

A Delta State resident, Mr. Henry College, whose mother, and younger
brother, were allegedly abducted and killed by armed Isaba militants in Epame Community of Udu Local Government Area has
vowed to avenge their death if the Delta State Government fails to intervene and ensure justice.
College and some other displaced Epame
indigenes made the vow at the monthly human rights clinic organized by
the Centre for the Vulnerable and Underprivileged , CENTREP, in Udu
on Saturday.

The Okwagbe indigene said he managed to escape when the incident
occurred and reported the matter to the Aladja Community.

According to Henry, who is currently taking refuge at the
Aladja Community Hall, “if the government does come into this
matter, I will avenge their death; I won’t allow it go like that.”

Plateau is drifting apart under Lalong – Damishi Sango

Plateau is drifting apart under Lalong – Damishi Sango

A former Minister of Sports and current chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Plateau State, Hon. Damishi Sango on Saturday accused the APC led administration in the state of allowing the state to drift apart.
Sango stated this in a chat with journalists in Jos.

“It is unfortunate that today, Plateau is drifting apart. Plateau is supposed to be the shining star in the middle belt but the APC is bent on rubbishing everything.

“But Plateau people will never allow it, especially some of us who are still alive from the old school.”

When asked to assess the present administration since it came into office last year, the PDP Chieftain said, “I don’t want to assess it because there is nothing to assess. Lalong could not reply my last press conference and the issues raised because he has no reply to it.

“We raised a lot of issues concerning the financial recklessness of his administration, just barely a year in office, but he could not respond. Lalong has nothing to say to counter the facts.

“But let me assure you that Plateau is PDP, Plateau people will decide come 2019”, he stressed.

On the defection of Senator Joshua Dariye, the State’s House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi and others; Sango said, “As a party we have talked about it and we have made our position known. I don’t want to keep on talking about an inconsequential issue.

“People will vote you out of trust, then you go and say you have defected with the mandate of the people. It is unfortunate.”

He maintained that, “These younger ones just want to destroy their political future. If you go about defecting with the peoples’ mandate, who will trust you tomorrow?

“These ones you see jumping to APC with the peoples’ mandate are people who came to PDP on a platter of gold.
They never suffered anything for the party that is why they can afford to do as they please, but it’s quite unfortunate.”

However in a swift reaction, Governor Simon Lalong, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon.

Dan Manjang, said, on the financial allegations, “when you start to throw stone at every dog that barks, then you will no get anywhere”.

Manjang told DAILYPOST exclusively that, “Sango lacks the temerity to accuse anybody of defecting from one party to another. Sango left PDP for the AD prior to the 2003 polls and came back and still left PDP for ANPP at the eve of the 2011 elections. So what is good for the goose is good for they gander.

“He is the wrong person to complain about anybody leaving PDP to any other party. It is common sense that, when the salt loses its taste, it is thrown away, so PDP is the salt in this scenario.”

The Governor’s Spokesman maintained that, “Anybody who understands the times, there will be no need to stagnate in a place that is full of impunity; you move to progressive places”.

Singer Di’ja Speaks Up On Why She Had A Lowkey Wedding And Mavin Signing Iyanya

Singer Di’ja Speaks Up On Why She Had A Lowkey Wedding And Mavin Signing Iyanya

We’ve all remained in a state oblivion when it comes to the Sowemo singers married life. Mavin songstress and act,
Di’ja embarked on what many would call a lowkey wedding for a star of her status but she has finally given reasons to why she preferred such moves.

In her recent interview with Linda Ikeji Blog, Di’ja spoke in length saying she also had to live a normal life regardless of her status.

She said; “It was very intimate and it was also in my home town, Kaduna, so it’s kind of hard to get people to come over there and then Kaduna is not as ‘Noisy’ as Lagos.

So anything like that could be probably called low key. I just don’t translate them into being posted on my page. And I guess in the ‘Post it’ ‘Tweet it’ world; you almost kind of look abnormal if you don’t
But it’s not like am going out of my way not to, i guess it’s just not in my character to do it all the time, but i’m also getting better at my Instagram. At least you see my baby and all other stuff, (laughs). So I always say there is difference between privacy and secrecy, it’s not something to hide.

Again, i guess people forget that when you are in the entertainment industry, you also have to live a normal life.
For instance, i wake up in the morning and i give my son a bath, and sometimes my mom will, and other times, it is a maid and an aunt that would help me with him. So don’t forget you have a real life too and you have people to answer to as well.

Again you wake up and you have people that are depending on you, and people you pay for the work they do for you, you know as much as we have this entertainment life, and it’s amazing, I mean, God bless you all for liking us so much because it’s actually your love that has put us on the pedestal, but we also do these things and wake up with a regular life, so in that sense and sometimes because i could get carried away, that’s majorly the problem.”

Were all interested in what Mavin Records and former Triple MG lead act, Iyanya has in stock for us. However, Di’ja has sounded her thoughts towards this new development.

“It is Iyanya, and i mean, he is Iyanya. He is a brand on his own, so him coming in, only adds to the label and makes it greater especially for someone like myself that is still seeing so many new things that I could add and then increase my own talents and what I want to share with everybody. He is a blessing, because there is so much we can learn from him, and there is so much I can learn from him. You know, in Mavin record we are like a family, we like to collaborate with each other, and by the Grace of God, we are going to get to that point where we start doing songs together, so i think it’s a new chapter that we should all look forward to

Sodiq and 21-year-old Tunde Lawal, have been nabbed by men of the Lagos State Command after robbing a motorist of his Honda saloon car.

The duo are members of a car-snatching gang operating in Lagos. According to the suspects, they “supplement” their work as bus conductors with robbery.

Sodiq told Punch that he was arrested in a bus by men of the Alakara Police Division, Lagos, who were already on his trail without his knowledge.

He said that on Wednesday, after concluding his bus conducting duty, he went to meet other members of his gang and they snatched the Honda at Sabo area of Yaba, Lagos and dumped the driver of the vehicle at Obanikoro along Ikorodu Road.

He said, “We did not beat the owner of the vehicle, we just asked him for the security codes of the car.

“This is the second time I would follow the gang to snatch a vehicle. I was given N50,000 the first time my gang took me along on an operation. Our leader is called Coded. He has not been caught since he ran way.

“I have been an armed robber for just one month. I came to Lagos from my state, Kwara, last year when I could no longer stand the farming business my father forced me into when he could no longer sponsor me to school.

“Now, I really feel bad about what I have done. I regret my life now. By the grace of God, if I am released, I will run back to my village immediately.”
Sodiq said he was not educated beyond primary school.

“When I finished primary six, my father did not have money for me to continue schooling,” he said.

Lawal on the other hand, explained that he thought robbery would be an easier job than his normal bus conducting work.

“My work as a bus conductor is a tough job. that’s why I decided to join the robbery gang. But now, I know better, the problem in robbery is worse. I wish I can just be released to go back to my conductor business,” he said.

Lawal explained that he was introduced to the gang by Sodiq.

According to him, the gang gave him the duty of ransacking any vehicle they snatched and gathering every valuable found in such vehicles.

“I don’t hold a gun, all I did was gather money, phones and other valuables,” he said.

The Oyo State indigene said he did not know other members of the gang except Sodiq.

He said the first operation he participated in, they were almost arrested when the police chased them but they escaped.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, has said efforts were being made to arrest other members of the gang
